I want more time to watch my kids run around Rocky Point Island and stare out at the sea and think about how lucky I am to have landed in this lucky country for 2 years.
I want to ride on the green and yellow ferry, marvel at how the sea and the sky could possibly be so blue and stare at the sparkling white sails of the Opera House as we pull into Circular Quay.
I want to stop by the kiosk and stroll along The Esplanade holding my husband's hand and just freeze time for a moment. I don't want to say goodbye.
We will come back some day. It won't be the same, but I'll remember. I'll show my daughter where she learned to ride a bike and my son where he spent so many afternoons digging in the sand. And I'll tell my baby, "You were born here."
Thank you, Australia, for being our home. I will miss you. Only one week left.

This brought tears to my eyes as I know how much you have loved your time in Australia. Thank goodness for all your beautiful memories!
Totally made me cry. I have thought about the same thing, and bringing the kids back one day to show them all our places they first did this and that. And to keep taking it all in and cherishing all these experiences...
Dear Jenny,
Tears for me too! Beautifully written letter to my favorite place as well, and I too will be saying goodbye and I will be just as sad as you. We are so lucky to have spent time here with our families, and hopefully we have instilled a sense of adventure in our kids!
WAAAAAAAAA!!! This is sad and surreal. We will miss you but are keeping our fingers crossed that our paths will cross again!
Jenny,
Thank you for keeping such a lovely blog. I've enjoyed your observations of my home-town from here in London. It amuses me that just as you're moving to the UK, I'm moving on to New York. I'm sure you'll love London.
All the best to you and your family.
Stuart.
Thanks for the kind comments. It's such a strange feeling to know that one phase of your life is about to come to an abrupt end.
It's hard to believe there was ever a decision to be made as to whether or not to move. Think of how ordinary your life would have been had you never had this opportunity, and how extrordinary it has been. The things you have done, the places you have visited, and most importantly, the people who have touched your lives will always be with you.
I read this while I was cutting onions... will never do that again.
Oh my. I had a lump in my throat then also! Now on to the next adventure. :) x
Such a bittersweet tribute and farewell to your home away from home.
I truly hope you will still blog in London, as I enjoy hearing about your adventures!
Good luck moving and house hunting!
Travel safely,
Michelle
That was beautiful, Jenny. Good luck to you and your family in London. I hope your adventures there are just as memorable...
Safe travels,
Maria

Beautiful post!
And all the best with your upcoming move (australia and california, two great places to stay!) Hope you will continue with your blog in the US,
bye, Maureen
It's funny how a new place can quickly come to feel like home. So glad to hear you've enjoyed your time in Australia. I'm sure you will love London as well.
I moved here from California almost 6 years ago and love it!
Oh, Jenny! So lovely to find you through sweet Laura. I'm so glad you've relished your time here. J x
I remember saying goodbye to the US and our home (that we sold) just a year ago. Such mixed emotions! Good luck with your transition to London - I'm sure you will do it so gracefully.
Thank you for joining Post Of The Month Club!! XOL
I stumbled upon your blog today while researching my family's move to Australia! We live in New Orleans right now. Last week my husband's company offered us the chance to live in Sydney for 2 years. We need to make a decision next week. Reading over your blogs made me feel better about the fact that we plan on accepting. This post brought tears to my eyes and confirmed what I already knew, that this will be the most amazing experience my 3 boys (ages 6, 9 and 11) can ever have. Thanks for helping to make my decision easier!
I live in New Orleans and just last week my husband's company offered us the chance to live in Australia for 2 years. I stumbled upon your blog while researching the decision and I am so glad I did! While your adventure in Oz just ended, mine is just about to begin! We don't have to give our decision until next week, but reading this blog, especially this entry, has confirmed what I already suspected. This will be the greatest adventure that I can ever give to my 3 boys (ages 6, 9, and 11). As I read this entry I cried tears of joy knowing that we are doing the right thing. Thank you for your perspective and for leading me in the right direction. Sydney...here we come!
Laurie,
Thanks for the sweet comment. I hope your family loves Australia as much as mine did. Please feel free to email me through the blog if I can be of any help. Best of luck to you!
I love the sunshine in Australia, it has something special... specially on the beach.
